A Must-See Video Presentation On The Subject Of Sugar!
This week I want you all to watch this video, yes I know it’s an hour and a half but break it down to 3 viewings of 30 minutes if you like and more importantly make sure to absorb all the content of this presentation by Dr.Robert Lustig. As of this writing it already has been watched 3.8 million times and Dr. Lustig’s message has gone viral worldwide. No scientist has done more in the last couple of decades to alert Americans to the potential dangers of sugar in their diet.
Dr.Robert Lustig is a pediatric endocrinologist at the University of California where he is also a professor of Clinical Pediatrics and has a special interest in childhood obesity. He is the author of Fat Chance: Beating the Odds against Sugar, Processed Food, Obesity, and Disease which is a book I strongly recommend you read. The information in this video ties in with my post on sugar titled Sugar, Fructose, High Fructose Corn Syrup and Gout and the havoc it has caused to the health of so many people including myself. One of gout’s villains is sugar and other types of sugar like high fructose corn syrup, so this video is very enlightening.
Ever since the government mandated that we get the fat out of food in the 1970s, the food industry responded by adding more sugar in our food. This has been a disaster that drove our eating habits out of control and it ain’t no coincidence that gout has been on the increase ever since the 1970s. So open up your eyes to see and your ears to hear, if you want to beat gout, you’re going to have to adjust how much sugar you consume on a daily basis and what kinds of sugar you consume.
What Dr. Robert Lustig has to say in this video
In this video you will hear Dr. Lusting speak about how soft drinks and the invention of high fructose corn syrup are two of the main culprits to today’s obesity epidemic and how fat consumption has been decreased by 25% in the last three decades but obesity has risen. How we are eating more calories than ever before and how this wouldn’t occur if our brain was properly suppressing our appetite.
He then goes on to explain how the suppressor is being circumvented and how we all weigh 25 pounds more than we did 30 years ago due to this caloric increase in our diet. In addition, he explains how soft drinks consumption has led to an increase in obesity and type-2 diabetes. More importantly, Dr. Lustig explains sugar and breaks it all down regarding fructose, glucose and high fructose corn syrup which he claims is no worse for you than any other source of sugar. This is a highly debated point but his main argument is that sugar is poison to the body.
Where it relates to gout, he goes on to explain how fructose enters the body and when all of it reaches the liver, 30% of the fructose turns into fat. Then harmful chemicals are produced in the process and these chemicals can cause gout and hypertension. He then goes on to explain the biochemistry of metabolizing fructose.
Anyway enough said, make sure to watch the entire video, since this information will lead to many “A-Ha” moments in your quest for better health and in beating gout. Watch out for sugar, make sure to read your food labels and ingredients list on every food product you consume. Limiting sugar to a maximum of 25 grams a day is ideal for the gout sufferer in my opinion but don’t take my word for it, do your own research and prove it to yourself. Your health is what is at stake.
